Maternity Photography with KLD Photography
Whether it's your first baby or your fourth, every pregnancy is different and should be documented. Maternity has to be my most favourite sessions to take place at KLD Photography. I love the fact that I can make these wonderful mummies to be feel beautiful. Most message me after their session and thank me for an amazing session and how beautiful and comfortable I made them feel, they generally go on to say how much they were actually dreading the session before hand because they were nervous and did not feel one little bit beautiful! Maternity sessions capture that beautiful time in a woman's life, when really - you feel most like a woman! You have the option to come to the studio or have a nice outdoor maternity session which we discuss some amazing locations and you choose where you would like to do it. when you come in you can come by yourself and we can glam it up, or you can bring your partner and kids and we can make it a family affair.
The best time for a maternity session is somewhere between 33 and 36 weeks, but can be scheduled all the way up until your due date.
Booking in your maternity session
To make sure you do not miss out you want to book in your maternity session as soon as possible. I generally have mummies to be start contacting me around the 12 week mark onwards to start sorting out a time to book in their maternity session. As i mentioned above the best time for a maternity session is somewhere between 33 and 36 weeks, but can be scheduled all the way up until your due date. In 2018 every family who book in a newborn session will be receiving a FREE Maternity session. Which will include 1 11x14 print and 3 digital images with the option to purchase extras.
What to Wear
One casual and one dressy outfit are recommended. Choose outfits that flatter your figure, show off your bump and are comfortable. Pre-pregnancy jeans (unbuttoned, of course) and a body hugging t-shirt are nice options. A clingy dress also looks great in photos as do opened sweaters, robes or button down shirts. Try to choose medium to dark colours and solid prints. Feel free to bring a variety of options and I will help you choose the most flattering selections. I do also supply a range of gowns that you can choose from to wear during your maternity session with me. Please check out the options of the gowns and pick which ones you may like most. Please avoid arriving in clothing that will leave marks on your skin such as elastic-waist pants, tight-fitting underwear and socks. Your hands will likely be a prominent feature in many of your images. Treating yourself to a manicure before your session may be a nice touch.
What to Bring
As mentioned above it would be great for you to bring one casual and one more dressy outfit. Please feel free to bring more than one and we can decide during the session if you have trouble choosing. I do request that you try and bring one set of white undergarments and one set of black for the gowns that i supply as well as to do some more simple but elegant body shots.
If your partner and/or other children will be participating in the session, they should wear dark, solid clothing that coordinates with yours. When other children are involved, I usually try to get the family shots done at the beggining of the session so the kids can the relax and do their own thing. I try to have a little bit of fun with the kids during the session also so they remember this as a positive experience. Please feel free to bring along any toys or snacks for them also.
Semi Nude/Nude Portraits
I absolutely love this part of the session, being able to see you and your absolutely glowing body and that beautiful belly! I want you to be able to show it off to me to be able to capture some amazing photographs of you. I will always ask before a session to see if you are comfortable with doing these shots. If you are not it's completely fine, generally if some mummies say they don't want to do it half way through the session they change they mind because they feel so comfortable.
Proofs & Ordering
Within 48 hours I will post a sneak peak up on Facebook or email you directly. At this time we will also need to book in your viewing appointment which will be approximately 3 weeks after your session. At this appointment you will get to view your completed gallery and place your order. Payment can be made by credit card, direct bank deposit or cash. KLD Photography does also have payment plans for any purchases over $500. With the payment plans, once you have placed a 40% deposit we will order your products and you will receive your products while you are still making your payments. Please allow 2-3 weeks for your order to be completed.
The most important thing is that this is a really happy time for you all – enjoy yourself and relax! I love making you feel beautiful and amazing about yourself! I love the look on your face when you first see your images! I want to be able to create these very special memories for you. Your hands will likely be a prominent feature in many of your images. Treating yourself to a manicure before your session may be a nice touch.
Maternity Sessions usually last 1-1½ hours but they can vary as I lobe to have a chat and get to know you and your family. Nothing is ever stiff or formal with me, so expect that we will get a little chatty, and pretty soon, any potential nerves will melt away. We laugh. We talk. I’ll probably fix your hair at least 27.4 times and ask you to humour me for “just one more idea.” I’m telling you – it’s fun stuff.
Please feel free to check out the gowns that i have in my studio that you can wear I have a seperate gallery for you to check out with these meternity gowns. Please let me know if there are any that you would like to wear in particular.
I want you to be able to see a sneak peek of some of your photos as soon as possible and try to post a couple on Facebook before the end of the day. I am able to ‘tag’ you in the photos, but can only do that to ‘fans’ of my Facebook page, so make sure you ‘like’ the page so that you can be notified straight away of when your photos are up. Feel free to share the photos with your friends!
If you do not want your images posted to Facebook/website, just let me know.
